Marketing Specifications

FreshFocus marketing specifications are used to differentiate produce lots by the intended recipient. For example, retailers will often have specific packaging requirements. Their product may be branded or the produce must be marked with a country code. Marketing specifications allow for this to be attributed at the item level, but also on a per lot basis.

Packaging

Packaging can be used as a means of differentiating the same product in stock by its packaging. Instead of creating a unique item for different configurations of an item, you can use the packaging code on any lot to denote that it is packed in a specific way.

Note: This is different to having discrete units of measure for the item.

Example

For example; you may have generic 8KG bags of Oranges, but some are supplied to a retailer in a specific crate type, or maybe they are packed in a box, and others are not. By using Packaging on lots we know what inventory we have of each type, but avoid having to know when we are producing exactly what type of packaging we are using.

Packaging configuration is only needed if the produce items require this level of detail.

Caption Type Description
Code Code Specifies a unique code to identify packaging. The packaging code is used in connection with items (as default) and lot information and describes the various forms in which an item can be supplied.
Description Text Specifies a description for the packaging.

Brands

Brands are used as a means of differentiating the same product by the intended retailer or specific brand, or even marketing name of the produce.

Example

For example we may have 8KG bags of Oranges marketed under the 'ACME' brand, and we may also be packing oranges under a retailer's 'select' brand.

Instead of creating unique items for each brand configuration we can simply assign the produce property during production, or even when receiving a specific brand, thereby effectively isolating the inventory and all associated traceability.

Brand configuration is only needed if the produce items require this level of detail.

Facilities

Facilities provide a way for packers to identify the facility in which particular produce was processed.

Example

For example you may operate 3 pack-houses, and 1 cold storage location that receives packed produce from each of these pack-houses.

Using facility codes you can easily attribute to inbound or produced lots and track through inventory.

Facilities can also be used for other producers who supply produce, but is only needed if the item requires this level of detail.

Code Code Specifies a unique code to identify a processing facility. The facility code is used with lot information properties, and can be defaulted at the item level.
Description Text Specifies the description for the facility record.

Target Markets

Target Market is a property that allows you to identify where produce has been sourced from, or where its intended destination is.

Example

For example you might sell produce class 1, of a specific size, and colour that is suitable only for the US market, using the target market you can easily identify and distinguish between lots that are applicable for that market.

Using target market codes you can easily attribute to inbound or produced lots and track through inventory. They can also be used for other producers who supply produce, but is only needed if the item requires this level of detail.
